The Millhouse owes a debt to the famous Abruzzo region of Italy. Its rich, fresh, foods and luxuriant wines inspired the original menus and their legacy lives on today.
The restaurant was opened in 1990 by Franco Ciuffetelli who had emigrated from Abruzzo in the sixties, eventually settling in Hull.
After making his reputation with ‘Franco’s’ restaurant in Cottingham, he sought a more suitable location for his vision. The ‘White Lodge’, in Skidby, proved to be ideal.
Tragically, Franco passed away four years after opening and his son Mark took over, determined to honour his Father’s ethics while introducing his own passion and ideas.
Sixteen years later, it is renowned as one of the regions leading restaurants and this reputation is sure to grow in the years to come.
The Millhouse Restaurant has been accredited with the following:
- East Riding Mails' Restaurant of the Year award for 1999-2000
- Best Continental Restaurant award for 2002.
